Pioneer Park and the New Port District Riverwalk

Pioneer Park and the New Port District Riverwalk

If you haven’t visited Port St. Lucie’s Port District in the last year or so, it’s worth another look. Pioneer Park, just south of the Botanical Gardens along the North Fork of the St. Lucie River, has grown into a genuine 9.75-acre destination, and it officially opened with Port Fest back in June 2024.

What’s there now

  • A riverfront stage used for concerts and community events
  • Open-air spaces for markets and festivals
  • An enchanting playground for younger kids
  • Restored historic homes reflecting the city’s past
  • A boat and canoe launch, plus fishing access

What’s coming

A waterfront restaurant and additional nature trails are planned nearby, along with a riverwalk boardwalk expected to eventually stretch roughly 3,300 feet along the river, passing beneath the Port St. Lucie Boulevard bridge.

It’s an easy stop to combine with a visit to the Botanical Gardens next door, and a genuinely pleasant spot for an evening stroll if you’re staying anywhere on the east side of the city.
